Inspirations: "I Want Candy"

So some of 2012's collections are pretty great and one of the trends I'm totally loving is the light and pastels.

A breath of fresh air and all the pale beauties is just too soft and sweet!

I'm a little biased here with Louis Vuitton's Spring/Summer collection and I love horses and carousels, and it hits the nail on me feeling nostalgic about my childhood at theme parks, 99p flake cones (probably only us Brits will understand this) and candy floss! Which always seem to get in my hair...

When A Londoner Visits Birmingham

On Monday 11th July, a group of 20 people who have never met before gathered at Euston train station to begin their journey to Birmingham. Why, I hear you say. For training at a new store opening we've all been hired for. Where, I hear you say. A company called Forever 21!

Now, I know some Brits haven't heard of the company, sohere's a quick brief: Forever 21 is a clothing store found in California by a (South) Korean couple in 1984. The popularity is growing, and the company is expanding rapidly and internationally. We went to Birmingham for training as it's the first store in the U.K. closest to London.

Just outside Birmingham Bullring Shopping Centre. And... there of course, is a bull. Symbolism and all that. Standard.

Underground! Although we weren't in London anymore, there was a little bit of our heart in Birmingham. The Village was where alot of drag, drinking, dancing and karaoke singing went down. The hangover and work the next day wasn't the best of times, though.

Chanel Is Not A Robot

How adorable is this window display at Selfridges (London) advertising the new Chanel range? Being creative with the variey of make up, brushes and media screen:

Loving the long super model dancing legs with little top hat!

And this looks like some female friendly version of Transformers. Well, it's enticing me more than Spielberg's smasher.

Fan It Out

Having a look around and stopped for a while to look at Zara (Oxford Street)'s window display. They always seem to make it look so quirky and fun. Loving the mixed giesha inspired look with clipper girl and faceless spike dude who looks likes a little like the Statue of Liberty gone dark.

Loving the colour clash (which works well together) with patches of print in both outfits. I also want those tights on clipper girl. And long mermaid hairs like clipper girl.

Then on the other window display was monocrome punk fest!

Nice use of the romantic whites that are in this season, and loving the zebra printed mannequins. I'm a sucker for prints.

And totally silly but cute fake puppies! I want this cage for my room (not for dog caging purposes, though).

The Breton Line

Tearing through April's issue of Vogue and I'm so in love with this shoot from Tim Walker! I love his style of work and the make up/hair styling looks so great with the stripe trend; back in again this season but still stylish.

His work has such a beautiful surreal element to it. Check it out!

I Left My Heart In Thailand

A friend of mine is jetting off to the fabulous Thailand this evening for 6+ months. Not that I'm jealous or anything... That's a lie. I'm absolutely jealous. I only came back from Thailand myself last month and I completely fell in love with the place. Bangkok had a wonderful buzz to it (despite me and my friends going to a place labelled "Karaoke Bar" and we're pretty certain it was also a whore house), and Phuket was just so amazing.

Now I'm rambling! So! This friend is just purely reminding me of what I miss out there. And some wonderful creativity I saw.

A really fab sleeveless spiked grunge jacket that was displayed with other designers work. I leaned towards this for my soft spot of leopard print and loved the clash of red and pink!

Being a Visual Merchandiser, I love seeing other window displays. This caught my eye with the vivid colours, arrangements and use of crazy animal heads! Loves it.

Oh these mannequins... How I need them in my life! They were shown behind this metal mesh and I love love love the quirky lightbulb heads and oddness of it!!

This awesome dude was during my visit to Chatuchak market. Playing on his little instrument(s), and all dressed up. And in that heat!! He's brave... Very brave.
